London Cider Salon tickets are now fully booked. If you missed out, book to attend a Cider Makers Masterclass or join us later at the Corner for the after-party alongside Mr Bongo Record Club event. We’ll be pouring a curated selection of fine ciders by the glass, paired with a special food menu to keep the celebration going.
Mid summer will have settled in, the day as long as any, as the sun beats down on the orchards nurturing this year's apples and pears, and many of the world's best cider and perry makers gather in London, to show you their latest and greatest bottles!
The London Cider Salon returns to Tate for a third year, providing an intimate opportunity to taste a vast array of the finest ciders and perries accompanied by a series of talks, cheese tasting (this year we are delighted to welcome Neal's Yard Dairy to join in the festivities), and a dinner and after-party! The London Cider Salon is a collaboration with The Fine Cider Company and their London Fields shop.
This is not mass market cider, which often uses water and apple concentrate, this is the drink Laurie Lee called the 'wine of wild orchards', and diarist John Evelyn titled 'the native wine of England'. From traditional classic styles to innovative blends and co-ferments, to the same method used to make Champagne, and dessert wine like Ice Cider, made up near the arctic in Scandinavia - this is not cider as you know it from the supermarket...
But this is also a chance to celebrate orchards, the biodiversity and environmental positives they can provide. A series of talks will accompany the London Cider Salon, covering this topic. Continue your night at The Corner with a Salon special menu of West Country Cuisine, music and Cider Makers Masterclasses.
Your London Cider Salon ticket includes entry to a series of talks held from 10.00–12.00 in the East Room, Natalie Bell Building, Level 6.
The talks will focus on the environmental and biodiversity benefits and considerations of traditional orchards, and the ciders they produce. They will ask what role fine cider can play in combating climate change, and how best to go about this as an emerging industry. If you'd like to read a little more on this subject, read this article.
