Coinciding with the Queer British Art, 1861 - 1967 exhibition, this day-long conference looks at the powerful role of LGBTQ+ activism within Britain’s creative community, following the partial de-criminalizaiton of homosexuality in England and Wales.
From discussions on the history of queer space, to the challenges of visibility and commodification of queer culture, hear from a range of voices from across the visual arts on the progress and continued injustices faced by the UK’s queer community today.
Speakers include the artist, filmmaker and activist Campbell X, the curator of Queer British Art, 1861-1978 Clare Barlow and performance artist Tim Redfern (‘Timberlina’).
